Description
A late Oregon State release for the kernel market, where blanching matters as much as flavour. Blanching is the step where the papery pellicle comes off the roasted kernel; a cultivar that blanches cleanly saves a processing stage, in the same way that an easy-peel pellicle earns a chestnut its orchard space.
Worth noting that it shares its patent cohort with the four Rutgers releases — the same fortnight of November 2020 saw this and ‘Raritan’, ‘Hunterdon’ and ‘Monmouth’ granted. Two programmes, one moment, and both chose protection.
