Description
The third Kentucky State University release, in 2018. It is named for the late Roy Chappell, a KSU alumnus and Tuskegee Airman, and his wife Dr. Lucy Lang-Chappell.
The trait that matters commercially is the low seed percentage. Pawpaw is a large-seeded fruit and pulp yield is what a processor pays for, so a cultivar that carries less seed for the same fruit weight is worth more than the size figure alone suggests.
