Description

A natural hybrid rather than a controlled cross, and the name is a contraction of marron of Migoule. It was released first for reforestation, then used as a rootstock, and is now grown for fruit — three different jobs from one selection.

It is the hybrid usually named as the best bet against Phytophthora, which is the reason it turns up under other cultivars as often as it turns up on its own roots.
